ARHS 2320 – The Venice Biennale
Into Topics in Art History and Criticism
This course will survey many of the dominant styles and theories of current art focusing on the Venice Biennale as a living museum. students will become aware of the nature of the “art-world” and the broader context in which recent art is situated. A primary aspect of the course will be an investigation of the role of the international art exhibition in contemporary art and exponentially the rise and dominance of the international/independent curator.
